Roadrunner Curling Club offers a variety of styles of recreational leagues, all of which are open to all levels of play. All of our leagues, including mixed doubles, are open to any combination of age and gender.
Typical League Offerings:
Round Robin Leagues - In these leagues, players stay on the same teams for the duration of the league. Scores are recorded and standings are announced each week. At the discretion of the league manager, the league winner may be announced using standings or the top teams may face off in playoffs and a championship game. This league typically lasts 8-10 weeks and is held on Sunday evenings. Participants in Round Robin Leagues must have at least attended one learn-to-curl class or have other prior curling experience.
No Standings League - In these leagues, the games are only 90 minutes long (6 ends) and no standings are kept. Positions on each team are fluid, giving each person a chance to try their hand at positions they may not be as familiar with. This league is for all ages and skill levels, and is a great league to get more familiar with the sport and meet new curlers, all in a low-pressure environment. No experience is required for this league (though attendance at a prior learn-to-curl class is recommended).
Instructional Leagues - Designed for those new to the sport, Instructional Leagues combine 30 minutes to an hour of detailed instruction with a few ends of gameplay. Each week, instructors will address the more detailed elements of delivering a stone, sweeping, and strategy. These leagues last five weeks, and the final week is reserved for an entire six-end game. No experience is required.
